MSD in Scotland

Partnerships

MSD has been a key partner with NHS Scotland in delivering medicines to patients throughout its history. Following the merger between MSD and Schering-Plough in November 2009, we now have an even stronger offering of medicines and expertise. Alongside this, we understand that with patient needs and expectations higher than ever before, NHS Scotland is striving to deliver better healthcare whilst ensuring value for money.

HIV support in Scotland

MSD has provided financial support to a number of organisations in Scotland, including, Waverley Care and Gay Men's Health, for activities to assist people that are living with HIV.

MSD is committed to continuing to work with HIV partners in Scotland to facilitate access to useful, accurate and appropriate information about diseases and treatment options.

MSD Informatics (MSDi)

MSDi has been providing informatics solutions in Scotland since 1998. Our clinical decision support tool is used by practices and health boards across Scotland to help facilitate improved patient care through audit of clinical data and by providing disease specific management templates and protocols.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde have been using MSDi products since 2002 to support their Chronic Disease Management Programme, which aims to deliver best practice across a range of long term conditions including diabetes, coronary heart disease (CHD), stroke, left ventricular systolic dysfunction (LVSD) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). MSDi, in partnership with NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde, has recently developed a new calculation and payment system to support their Disease Management Programme which will allow practices and the Health Board to track clinical performance against local targets.

The MSDi Software, QOF Calculator, was successfully used to calculate payments for all General Practices in Scotland for the 2010 -2011 financial year.
