MSD in Wales

Partnerships

MSD has worked with an ABPI Welsh Industry Group outreach project to support the Wales Centre for Pharmacy Professional Education (WCPPE) in developing advanced Medicines Usage Reviews. This project has helped pharmacists to utilise the provision of these services and support the care of selected patient groups with long-term conditions and on multiple therapies.

MSD Workshops

MSD has developed a series of Pharmaco-economic workshops aimed at medicines management teams and finance functions in NHS Wales. Dr. Andrew Walker, Senior Pharmaco-economic advisor to the Scottish Medicines Consortium, has delivered these workshops which have clearly explained the science behind the Quality-Adjusted Life Year and how this can be used to support better decision making in NHS Wales.

MSD Informatics (MSDi)

MSDi was awarded the contract by the Welsh Assembly Government in 2005 to provide its centralised web based management tools to support the Quality and Outcomes Framework in Wales and to ensure that the NHS correctly calculates GP practice payments based on achievement levels attained. The web based support tool which assists in audits, CMWeb, is used by all GP practices and Local Health Boards in Wales and in September 2011 MSDi successfully re-tendered for the contract which will run for a further 5 years.
